Marlene Dietrich

It’s day 8 of #TakeBackPride & we’re celebrating Marlene Dietrich, femme fatale & Hollywood golden era icon.

As a member of an underground society called the ‘Sewing Circle’, a group for closeted Hollywood lesbians and bi women, she encouraged others not to conform to expectations.

She dressed androgynously, breaking gender conventions & was openly bisexual in a time where her native Germany had made homosexuality punishable by death.

In the 1930 film Morrocco, Marlene wore a tuxedo & gave the first ever lesbian kiss in Hollywood history.

This daring lesbian representation was radical at the time and could still be radical today, where gender nonconforming lebians rarely appear on screen and are being erased from the LGBT community through extremist trans activisim.
