Today we #TakeBackPride for Irish Taekwondo Olympian, Jack Woolley.
Known as “The lad from Tallaght who went to the Olympics”, Jack competed in the 2020 Tokyo games making him the first Irish athlete to qualify in the sport, at age 22.
In the documentary, Road to Rio, Jack opened up about his sexuality, which led to some opponents refusing to shake his hand. He has said “I still don’t like labeling it. People are just hell-bent on giving everyone labels nowadays.”
He has come under fire for being one of the only male athletes to stand up for women and has questioned male inclusion in women’s sports, with some Twitter users accusing him of bigotry.
We stand with Jack - #NotAllGays believe males belong in women’s sports
